The 10 Days of Mental Health is a joint initiative of several Flemish organizations to make mental wellbeing and mental vulnerability discussable. For 10 days we highlight the importance of mental health and resilience.
Why is this so important?
Have you also noticed that we usually only talk about mental health when things are not going well? Yet it's important to pay attention to our mental health, both when things are going well and when we feel (briefly) down. With the annual theme 'Strength' we are going for 'Resilient Together'. With this we want to demonstrate the importance of resilience, because resilience ensures that you continue to feel good about yourself - even in the face of adversity. But also by discovering your own strengths, being proud of them and looking at yourself in a positive way, you will start to feel more powerful and happier.
But what is that, resilience?
Resilience is the ability to deal with adversity and then come out of it stronger. The more resilient you are, the better you can cope with and adapt to setbacks. You can do this by trying new strategies or using useful tools.
To increase your resilience, it is important to research and master which tools or strategies work best for you. Being resilient means knowing what skill you best use at what time. For example, you can learn how to deal with a negative event in a positive way.
What can your organization do?
From Oct. 1 to 10, you can join organizations in organizing action(s) that highlight strength, mental wellbeing and resilience and work on mental vulnerability. Get inspired by the inspiration guide of Samen Veerkrachtig and the following tips.
1) Create awareness
Demonstrate your commitment to mental wellness and raise awareness of the topic of resilience. You can do this visually by putting up posters, posters or window/mirror stickers. Come up with fun sayings around resilience or get inspired by the communication materials from Together Resilient.
2) Share your knowledge
Inform your employees about resilience by providing educational materials, info sessions or webinars. Not an expert in mental wellness? No problem. Together Resilient and BloomUp offer a variety of workshops and materials for your organization and your employees. Be sure to check out our inspiration hub.
3) Move
Exercise improves health physically, emotionally and mentally. Organize a walking activity or sports session at work and let your employees experience the power of exercise.
These tips are a good start to bringing mental well-being to the attention of your organization. Of course, it is also important to take effective action to boost the mental well-being of your organization. Would you like to make your team more resilient but don't know where to start? At BloomUp we are happy to support you with well-being scans, online therapy, workshops or growth programs.
